Two WoodMaster furnaces qualify for U.S. Economic Incentive Package Tax Credit
Up to $1,500 tax credit on all 2009 and 2010 purchases

RED LAKE FALLS, MINN. – The recently passed Economic Stimulus package, signed by President Obama on February 17, 2009 (also known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009), includes federal tax credits for consumers who make energy efficient improvements to their homes.

The package includes a federal tax credit of up to $1,500 for biomass fuel stoves, including the WoodMaster AFS 900 and WoodMaster AFS 1100 furnaces.

According to ENERGY STAR, a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy, the applicable part of the program is a federal tax credit for biomass fuel stoves used for heat or water heating that are placed in service in 2009 and 2010. The furnace must be used to heat a dwelling in the United States and used as a primary residence by the taxpayer. The credit is for 30 percent of the product cost, up to $1,500. The stoves must have the new Elgiloy Hastelloy B and a thermal efficiency rating of at least 75 percent as measured using a lower heating value.

The law defines “biomass fuel” as any plant-derived fuel available on a renewable or recurring basis, including agricultural crops and trees, wood and wood waste and residues (including wood pellets), plant (including aquatic plants), grasses, residues and fibers.
